I found that Lien became the unofficial voice of the Cadet team during the Interactive Academy. She really stood out in regards to facilitating team meetings and her specific contributions to both the capstone project and mini-project. She applies the feedback appropriately, began to challenge suggestions respectfully and was a very strong member of the Interactive Academy.

During competitive analysis and astrology research, I uncovered a meaningful distinction in how horoscope information is naturally structured: daily horoscopes update every 24 hours, whereas moon horoscopes shift only with changes in the moon phase. In the original flow, these were treated as a single category, which conflicted with actual astrological logic and caused users to expect updates at the wrong frequency.
To align the product more closely with real user expectations and the natural cadence of astrology content, I separated Daily Horoscopes from Moon-based horoscopes. This allowed users to intuitively understand:
“My personal horoscope changes daily,” vs.
“Lunar insights evolve when the moon does.”
This restructuring improved clarity, reduced cognitive friction, and increased perceived accuracy and trust in the app’s content. By designing the flow around the inherent rhythms of astrology rather than UI convenience, I created an experience that feels more authentic, meaningful, and aligned with how users mentally map astrological information.
For the visual direction, I leaned into themes of cosmic mystery, celestial navigation, and introspective discovery. The mood board reflects a palette of deep midnight tones paired with vibrant star-inspired accents, evoking the feeling of looking into an expansive night sky. I intentionally chose soft gradients, constellation patterns, and organic cosmic textures to create a sense of wonder and depth.
Applying the Mood Board to the UI
I translated the cosmic mood board into the interface through deep night-sky backgrounds, star-inspired accent colors, and subtle constellation motifs. The typography blends mystical elegance with modern clarity, echoing traditional astrological aesthetics. On desktop, the layout feels expansive and atmospheric, while on mobile the design compresses cleanly into a vertical flow—maintaining the same cosmic tone and visual hierarchy across responsive breakpoints.
